My First Video Tutorial, Guys! A "Colorful Neutrals" Everyday Look

You guys, I went for it! I'm extremely nervous to post this, mostly because in editing this I've now listened to my own voice way more than I ever hoped to, but I decided to try making a video tutorial for the first time. Think of this "colorful neutral" look as a more subdued version of my lavendy & navy eye from two weeks ago.

I've loved working on this blog for the past five months (wow, time flies!) but as I say in the video, I realize that there are a lot of techniques I use to apply makeup that can't really be explained in a photo, and let's face it, are probably pretty confusing when typed out. So I'm giving this a shot! Next time I plan to zoom in to show the work on my eyes better; please let me know of any other improvements I can make!
Full disclosure: this is my second attempt at making this video. The first time I was so nervous I was almost shaking and I didn't even do a look I liked because I just wanted to get off camera. I think this one went much better, though.

As I said, so sorry I didn't include the whole face. This was quickly turning into a 30 minute video, which seemed excessve ! Will try to abbreviate next time to show you my concealer & foundation routine too. Here are all the products I used to create this look:

Products used:
  • Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer in Green
  • Stila Perfecting Concealer in Shade A (they've changed the color names since I bought mine, but this is the current equivalent)
  • Revlon Colorstay Makeup in 110 Ivory
  • Tarte Smooth Operator Micronized Clay Finishing Powder
  • MAC Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour in For Your Amusement
  • Benefit High Beam
  • NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Taupe/Ash
  • Anastasia Clear Brow Gel
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC Paint Pot in Stormy Pink
  • Smashbox Eyeshadow in Butter, Nectar and Haze
  • Inglot Duraline
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Cobalt Ink
  • Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
  • MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in In Anticipation
  • TokyoMilk Lip Balm in Rose Water

Thanks so much for watching, and please let me know what other kinds of looks you want to see in the future.

  1. Great video! I think it's pretty good for your first try. It helps that you have great lighting in your apartment - not always the case in NYC heh. I think to make it shorter next time, you could separate the brows portion from the rest of the tutorial. Overall, I like your style and I personally like the chattiness :)

    1. Thank you!! Yes, we got really lucky with the light in our apartment. I'm definitely getting used to editing down for the video format, because I love the ritual & taking my time doing my makeup, but obviously that's not great for a video tutorial. Thanks for watching!
